COMPACTOR

COMPACTOR is an interconnected set of mostly obsolete machinery that is manipulated by an anonymous figure known as The Worker, who is compelled to work for a faceless corporation. The machinery creates a noisy soundtrack to the daily grind.
The Worker never speaks, is always masked and in a generic uniform, to emphasize dehumanization. Each Audio Document has a different subject and corresponding sonic focus, often some aspect of work, technology, and/or society.
Documents have been licensed to Phage Tapes, Ohm Resistance, Love Earth Music, Oxidation, Annihilvs Power Electronix, Low Noise Productions, and several others since 2011. Figment NYC hosted the sonic interactive installations Fields Of Waste and Components. 187 Live Shifts have taken place in 30 states and three countries, including festivals such as Tulsa Noise Fest and The UnConvention. Live Shifts are already planned for 2024 including Slabfest, Fargo Noise Fest IV, Lunasa Cascade, and multiple tours.

CHRIS STRUNK

Strunk is a drummer and percussionist who focuses on cymbal overtones, friction, and non-traditional percussion instruments. He is a crucial figure in the Boston experimental / punk scene. His open-mindedness, encyclopedic knowledge and generosity are beyond limits.
ZANE KANEVSKY
(Portland, ME)
ZK is a composer and improviser based in Maine. His most recent works have focused on using the computer as a tool not only for sound design and composition but as a source of inspiration which itself informs his music. Most recently, he has been working on compositions which explore the processes used in audio file compression as well as the spaces between which sounds are classified as rhythms or tones.
