LEAN (Worcester, MA)

LEAN is Mickey O’Hara and Seamus R. Williams. The skill shown by this power electronic duo from Worcester is just remarkable. Their pure, abstract sound which they manage to articulate with exquisite timing makes of their performances a real treat!

CURSE PURSE (Greenfield, MA)

CURSE PURSE is Ms Olivia Kennett, Matt Robideaux and Ted Lee.

Please read this review by Byron Coley:

"Ostensibly a record for their recent European/Imapean/Wereallapean Tour, this three song document remains the first tangible evidence of the miracle trio that is Curse Purse (or, as locals call them, “Cuss Puss”). Olivia and Ted from Egg Eggs are joined by Matt (formerly of Speedy Ortiz), and the rumpus they conjure up is estimable.

There are semblance of song-form at times, but this is not the bland cut-and-paste-merch-aktion of most combos. CP take the basic outline of a musical event and run with it. The feel of this can be a slow-motion dash, filled with groin-thunder-guitar and the stench of cough syrup, or it can be a chittering cloud of synth/perc-junque into which notes are driven like stakes through the hearts of all known cultural vampires. These guys (and gal) brook no goddamn guff. They are after ecstatic, as-yet-unknown sounds; not the babyfood so often passed off as music by even the most esteemed “underground” artists.

Every door CP opens leads to another sequence of choices, questions and revelations. You have to ask yourself -- What Would Lautrec Do? If you think you know the answer to that, fax me."
